Join the Coriovallum Pipe Band; Pleasure in Culture
Are you looking for a challenge within a unique band? Are you capable of achieving mutual goals and are you willing to develop yourself? The training
There is always room for a piper or a drummer. The ideal age for learning how to play a musical instrument is between the ages of 12 and 16, however this is not required. For beginning drummers, a basic knowledge about drumming is important. Student pipers can benefit greatly from prior knowledge of music notation.As a student piper or drummer you will receive individual training within our band for a period of 2 to 3 years.
Financial aspects
As a student you only need to purchase standard learning material. This consists of information, a CD-Rom and a practice chanter / drum pad. After completing the training, pipers eventually need to buy their own instrument. This is only necessary after a certain period of time, when you are certain that you want to continue playing with our band. Drummers can use drums provided by the band.All members pay a monthly contribution of 5 euros.
Being a member of the Coriovallum Pipe Band
As a member of the band you will join us during performances in Europe and beyond. You will also play (on a grade 3 level) during annual pipe band championships in the Netherlands, Belgium and beyond.The band is made up of people from different nationalities, such as Scottish, Belgian, Dutch, American and German. For foreign members of our band, language is never a big issue.
We rehearse twice a week. Every Tuesday from 20:00 until 21:30 and every weekend, according to a fixed schedule, either on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. Participation during these rehearsals is off course mandatory. The band practice room is located at "de Broederschool", Kerkraderweg 9 in Heerlen.
